Instructional Approach
Diagnostic & Prescriptive
Every new student begins with a comprehensive reading assessment to identify their unique strengths, challenges, and areas for intervention. Instruction is highly individualized, and progress is continuously monitored and adjusted to meet the learner’s evolving needs.
Multisensory & Engaging
Lessons are grounded in Orton-Gillingham principles, using visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile pathways to reinforce concepts. This multisensory approach enhances memory, deepens understanding, and keeps students actively engaged.
Systematic & Predictable Phonics Instruction
Students are explicitly taught the sound-symbol relationships and consistent spelling patterns that govern the English language. This systematic approach helps make reading and spelling more predictable, supporting students in becoming more confident, independent readers.
Structured, Sequential, & Cumulative
Skills are introduced in a clear, step-by-step sequence, moving from simple to more complex. Each session includes explicit instruction, guided practice, and ongoing review, ensuring that students retain what they’ve learned and build upon it with confidence.
Assessment
Every reading intervention begins with a comprehensive 45–60 minute assessment to identify the student’s current abilities and areas needing support. This initial session lays the groundwork for a personalized intervention plan tailored to the student's unique learning profile.
Following the session, you’ll receive a detailed written report outlining:
Specific reading challenges
Data-driven recommendations for interventions and accommodations
Suggested strategies for advocacy within school settings
An overview of the student’s current literacy skills
A personalized intervention plan
Assessment tools may include:
CORE Phonics Survey – to assess decoding and phonics skills
Phonological Awareness Screening Test (PAST 2) – to evaluate sound awareness
Alphabet Writing Task / Grapheme Mapping – to assess letter-sound knowledge and encoding
DIBELS – to measure fluency, accuracy, and foundational reading skills

K-2 Intensive Reading Intervention sessions
For younger learners in Kindergarten to Grade 2, attention spans and cognitive stamina are still developing. A 40-minute session strikes the right balance—long enough to deliver effective, structured instruction without overwhelming the child.
2–3 sessions per week are recommended—to ensure early reading intervention concepts are practiced regularly, without cognitive overload, giving students the best chance to develop strong, lasting reading foundations.
$80
Grade 3+ Intensive Reading Intervention sessions
For students in Grade 3 and above, reading challenges often stem from more complex and varied gaps in foundational skills. These learners benefit from longer, more in-depth sessions—typically 50 to 60 minutes—to thoroughly address specific areas of difficulty.
Older students require instruction that is highly tailored to their unique profiles, targeting gaps in decoding, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. The extended time allows for deeper exploration, practice, and application of strategies, as well as time to build confidence and independence.
